MAC Satin Dupe and E.L.F Moondust

One of my favorite colors is MAC’s Satin Taupe.   It is a go to color and if i can recommend a MAC eyeshadow to go spending your money on it’s def this one.  Not all of us have $14 to spend on ONE eyeshadow.  I found the closest dupe to it and guess what? ONLY $1!!!!!!!

Let me first describe them.
Satin Taupe is a really gorgeous brownish bronze color with a greyish undertone….gives a really sexy smokey eye effect when used on lid and under lashes  or with a black outer corner and so on.  It’s so versatile.

ELF’s Moondust I describe the same way.  Same color but with a little more sparkle.

ELF is more of my everyday go anywhere non-spacial eyeshadow, since i really don't want to kill my Satin Taupe o just go out for lunch or whatever. Although they look almost exactly the same, MAC's quality is a bit better but for $1, I really can't complain.

If you're debating, I say first try out Moondust.  Wear a primer with it, which ELF also sells for $1.  Go to Target if you don't want to pay shipping.

If you have the money or save up for it then honestly you can't go wrong with MAC's Satin Taupe.  It's just beautiful.

I will do a look with it soon :)

Foundations

Probably no other item of makeup is as important as foundation.  When properly applied, it provides a base for color, evens out skin, conceals minor imperfections, sometimes, to change the natural skintone and believe it or not, it protects the skin from soil, wind, and the weather.   Foundation applied to the body is generally referred to as body paint.  Every skin type requires a different type of foundation, either being cream, liquid, cake foundation, stick foundation, gel, water based, or powdered.  In a span of 12 years I have tried almost everything under the sun from cheap wet n wild to Maybelline and more expensive brands like Makeup Forever, MAC, Clinique, etc.  This is a list of the ones I’ve liked the best on myself and different people.

Face and Body Foundation
My favorite from the bunch is MAC’s Face and Body.  On the Mac site it’s described as water based foundation that provides natural coverage for face and body. Although not for everyone since it gives you a more dewy “wet” look which some people will describe as greasy.  I really like this product for me, people with good skin and for mature women. It’s feels very light on the skin and it looks very natural.  Doesn’t feel like a mask. It provides light coverage but buildable to medium.  Not great for people who suffer from acne, as it won’t cover them as great.  For more coverage I let it air dry for a minute and then I apply a second coat. Let it air dry for another minute and then set it with face powder.

Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation
I also have studio sculpt for skin that has more imperfections.  It’s a creamy, gel based foundation with medium to high coverage.  Personally, I like it a lot on those days my skin is less than perfect, because it will cover EVERYTHING!  It just doesn’t give me that natural “no makeup” look I love so much.  I find that a thin layer of this is better then a thicker layer.  It will look cakey if not blended well but that’s the purpose of thicker foundations right?

Pro Longwear Foundation SPF 10 Foundation
Simply a product that I wanted to love, but it failed in a few ways.  It claims it will last all day and since I loved the concealer so much and had high hopes for this foundation.  It didn’t do me justice at all and made me look very cakey mid day.  It wasn’t as sheer as MAC makes it sound.  It’s not horrible if you use it right but It’s not my favorite.

Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15  Foundation
Easy to blend.  This had nice light-medium buildable coverage. It’s not too liquidy and when applied in light layers it can be built up without caking.  It lasts for hours.  Personally, if you want something almost identical to this and for the fraction of the price, get the Revlon Colorstay Foundation.

Studio Fix Powder plus Foundation
I was amazed everything was covered while looking very natural.   It gives the skin a very smooth and matte look. Although it may look a little chalky or powdery at first, once the powder sinks in with your face oils it looks amazing.  If you don’t want to wait, just spray it with some water.  I like this for more sensitive skin and for oily skin.

Cover Girl Clean Foundation
This is my ultimate, inexpensive favorite foundation.  It makes your skin look dewy, has light to medium coverage, and it’s great for sensitive skin. It does an awesome job at keeping the skin matte, and I have yet to see it move or crease anywhere on me. It doesn’t oxidize(turn orange) on my face.  This is always my go to foundation. LOVE LOVE LOVE.  I 100% recommend this for everyone.  Young, Mature, Imperfections, anyone!  They have changed the formulation which I still haven’t tried, hopefully nothing changed.  If it did then I recommend the Maybelline Mineral Foundation.

Maybelline Mineral Foundation
Another foundation I have a growing love affair with.  It’s not for everybody as it does leave you with a dewy complexion (pictured below).  Goes on smooth and beautiful, and doesn’t settle into my pores and it makes skin glow. Takes seconds to blend everything out. the coverage i would day light/medium.  As you can see in the pictures below, this foundation makes the skin look amazing!  I totally love it and 100% recommend it.
I take that back...i think it was discontinued :(

Revlon Colorstay Foundation
This is very comparable to the MAC Select Fluid Foundation.  Packaging is almost the same, the coverage is the same.  Revlon lasts longer and I find it easier to blend. I have to say Mac will give you more coverage and matte look. Colorstay for being half the price of MAC is a pretty decent foundation. That said, after a while it does dry a little and makes you look a little cakey. I could tell there are a few or several irritating ingredients, so sensitive skin and acne prone, be careful.  This foundation isn’t my favorite but it’s pretty decent if you want something long lasting.

Acne

Acne is a disorder of the sebaceous(oil) glands.  Sometimes requiring medical attention if severe enough.  When treating skin with acne you should not over do it.  Just stick to reducing the oiliness, removing blackheads(pretty much just keeping the skin clean), Cleansing the Skin(VERY IMPORTANT), and using special products.   Acne is mostly due to hereditary and environmental factors, and uncleanliness.  It can also be aggravated with stress and faulty diet.  Although not caused by any particular food or drink, foods high in fat, starches and sugars help aggravate blemishes.  Continue to read more…….
Some people like using containing Salicylic Acid and others like using Benzoyl Proroxide, this meaning everybody is different and their skin will react differently to different products.  For my fair, sensitive skin I prefer using salicylic acid.  Sally Beauty Supply have amazing products that have helped me tremendously.  Some doctors also prescribe Birth Control pills for this problem.
Here is a link that also shows us why we sometimes get these zits…..Sneaky Little Zits!

Eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies

DRINK PLENTY OF WATER!!!!  I cant stress this enough

Always cleanse skin, day and night.  I like Clean & Clear or the Cetaphil Cleansing Bar. Noxema Cleansing Cream is AMAZING!

Exfoliating 2-3 times a week will keep your pores free of clogs and keep your skin fresh.

Go to the Beach!  Have you ever noticed those days when you go to the beach  for a couple of days and your skin just looks perfect?  Thats the salt water.  You can mix water with sea salt and rinse your face with it.  Wash off after 30 mins or an hour.

Tone! I like sea breeze and I really feel that my skin is out of control.  Some people can be sensitive to it but it’s worked great for me.  I wouldn’t recommend it for sensitive skin though. Witch hazel is amazing for sensitive skin, dry skin, oily skin, mature skin.  It’s cheap too!  You can get it at Target or CVS for less than $3!!!  I love this!  It does have alcohol so be careful.

Moisturize!  Dry skin makes the skin produce more oil and a quicker rate, which equals to clogged pores!  The One moisturizer that never broke me out (like i said everyone is different) was Beyond Belief  AHA Oil Free Moisturizer.  Burt’s Bees has a great one too.  Ponds is Great as well.  They have this new line called Clarant for Oily skin which is AMAZING.

Treat:  There are so many things out there!  The most promising ones I’ve read about and tried is the..
Only an Esthetician can apply a high frequency current over the affected area for about 5 mins.  This is antimicrobial current that uses violet rays.  Tiny violet sparks are emitted and it aids in elimination and absorption.
Clean & Clear Persa-Gel.  It’s a bit irritating so just put it on the blemish.

Toothpaste works wonders!  Make sure it’s the white paste and not the blue or green gel.  After cleaning put on blemish for about 15 mins or overnight depending on your skin.  It dries the blemish up in no time!
Put honey on a blemish with a band aid over it, over night.

I like Beyond Belief Acne spot treatment.  It’s less irritating, doesn’t smell strong and dries up pimples too.  It’s a bit softer but it works great!  Especially for sensitive skin.  Make sure to just put it on the blemish!

Tea Tree Oil!  Nature’s own antibiotic and bacteria killer!  Dab some on infected areas. After a few days you’ll notice the difference.

Vinegar kills bacteria.  1 part apple cider vinegar and  10 parts water should do the trick.
It also adds shine to your hair ;-)

MASKS!!
Ok this has to be my favorite part of acne treatments.  I can’t stress enough how well natural products work!  Honey, aspirin, yogurt, lime or lemon!  I’ve tried them all and some do work nice, like the Queen Helene Mint Julep Mast but nothing beats an aspirin mask, a pure form a salicylic acid without the preservatives. (only for people who aren’t allergic to aspirin please)
Massage the face with the skin of lemon or orange before washing with lukewarm water.  Lemon Juice helps sometimes too.
Mush strawberries along with the leaves on the acne.  The alkalinity of the fruit helps to reduce the swelling.
It’s so simple too.  Just get uncoated aspirin.  Can be generic and usually cost about $1, you can’t beat that.
Get about 4-5 pills and make a paste using a few drops of water.  Apply to face for about 15 mins.  This may cause some sneezing.  Then rinse off at the same time rubbing it in and exfoliating with it.  You can do this for a few days a week, I would say every other day.  Some people can also do it twice a week and leave it on for about 30 mins.  For it to adhere to the skin better you can also mix it with some honey(antibacterial properties) or yogurt(lactic acid).  Rinse and leave your skin alone for a while.  You can moisturize after a while.

Also, my friend Lareyne posted this on my facebook page -
Burt’s Bees skincare products have worked WONDERS for me. I’m sure you remember that I have had bad skin since I hit puberty, and have tried everything under the sun, prescription and all. Burts Bees is the only thing that has helped maintain my skin soft and clear. I'm also using Garnier Skin Renew Anti-Sun Damage moisturizing lotion to help with the spots that the acne left behind. AMAZING! Like you said, everyone is different. I just wanted to give my two cents.

Something else that worked wonders on me were lemon and sugar scrubs, maybe once a week.  It really cleans out the pores and all the pore clogging dead skin cells.  It also worked wonders for old marks.  It's best to use actual lemon use instead of the bottled kind.

As said everybody is different.  My skin hated burt’s bee and her skin loved it.  I’ve heard amazing things about burt’s bees and notice it all goes back to natural products. I really wish it would of worked on me because they are amazing.  It’s worth a try

Ok, what we learned was Keep Skin clean, don’t over aggravate it, don’t over do it with crazy products, and toothpaste and aspirin work wonders! Well for most people.
Adjust your diet.
Just make sure you know what your skin can handle and what it can’t.

Pro Longwear Concealer Review

Pro Longwear Concealer

pro longwear

Ok, so I suffer from hereditary dark circles.  Naturally I have tried EVERYTHING under the sun, from $1 to the expensive department store ones.  As some are not bad which I will later review, NYX, other MAC, Almay, MAC Pro Longwear wins it all.
By far it is the best concealer I have ever tried.  Again, this is just my opinion.  It’s buildable, it’s blendable and it lasts all day.  I usually have to touch up during the day or late at night, but not with this.  The pump is a little tricky though and a lot of product is wasted so getting used to getting the right amount (I still haven’t) can be tricky.  What I do is use the extra on my lids and lips as primer.  I have fine lines and cream concealers usually exaggerate them.  Not Pro Longwear.  To prevent creases under the eyes I mix a bit of moisturizer with it and apply to the problem areas before foundation.  I know most people do it the other way around but this is what’s worked for me.
Is it the best ever?  So far, FOR ME, YESSSS!  It’s sheer and it’s buildable.  Try it out and see if you like it.

Home Remedies ;-)

Sometimes we run into little beauty emergencies and have no time or maybe money to fix the problem.  Here is a list of a bunch of home remedies.  I haven’t tried all of them as of yet, toothpaste on zits does work, yet the powder on the roots not so much for my thick hair.   I will be adding more to this list as I’m reading and learning about new remedies.
